Amie Gallagher

SCI Mentee

Amie is a community development worker from Creggan in Derry.

She has a background in human rights and women’s rights education and facilitation through her work with the Creggan Enterprises Unheard Voices project, which works with women previously marginalised from community development and peace building.

Amie has experience in facilitating good relations and contentious issues workshops with young people from interface communities and is working on the IFI Personal Youth Development Programme, the LifeHack project, based in Creggan Enterprises. The project aims to achieve meaningful engagement with disengaged young people for skills development, personal and social development and good relations.

Her interests lie particularly in the development of deprived communities in a post conflict setting, informal community education, opportunities for inclusion of minorities, policing these communities and the experiences and outcomes for women and young people, considering the inter-generational impact of the conflict.
