Mona Younis

SCI Mentor

Mona Younis is a strategic programming, planning, and evaluation advisor who has devoted her professional career to supporting efforts to achieve progressive social change. For the past ten years, she has worked with non-profits and funders in the U.S. and abroad to evaluate and strengthen human rights programmes and strategies. She is particularly passionate about collaborative efforts and has been credited with reinvigorating the International Human Rights Funders Group (now Human Rights Funders Network) and reviving the AAAS Science and Human Rights Coalition, a collaborative of scientific and professional associations. Prior to consulting, Mona served as human rights program officer at the Mertz Gilmore Foundation, and director of the Science and Human Rights Program of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and she co-founded the Fund for Global Human Rights (Washington, DC) and the Arab Human Rights Fund (Beirut, Lebanon). A sociologist by training, Mona holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.A. from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
