Noncedo Madubedube

Noncedo Madubedube is a South African social justice activist, a movement strategist and popular educator with over fifteen years of experience in grassroots organising, campaigns that build organisations and coalitions for social justice.

Her activism is rooted in the struggle for equal and quality public education. She recently served as General Secretary of youth-led movement Equal Education, building campaigns combining grassroots organising, political education, research, litigation and public advocacy.

She is building Mabaphil’ABANTU, a movement-support and popular education space that convenes activists. The work surfaces lessons from organising, resistance and collective action across movements and generations and Mabaphil’ ABANTU is building a multimodal archive that can carry these lessons forward.

The fellowship will support Noncedo's work to strengthen the resilience and cohesion of youth-led social justice organisations across three areas of South Africa.
